vertebral subluxation complex

(1) Spinal Kinesiopathology: When the spines movement is restricted due to one of the following, Physical, Chemical, or Emotional Stress, it prevents normal activity and other movements. It is this restriction that leads to the other four components.

(2) Neuropathophysiology: The nerves exiting the spine are very delicate. The slightest misalignments or restrictions, can cause abnormal stretching, twisting, pinching, or other forms of irritation. These irritations can lead to numbness, tingling, pain, and/or burning in either the hands, neck, feet, legs or other body parts..

(3) Myopathology: Abnormal spinal support may cause some muscles to spasm, while others weaken and atrophy (deteriorate). With the abnormally functioning muscles may come fibrous scar tissue that infiltrates the muscle causing even more difficulty for them to give proper support and movement.

(4) Histopathology: When tissues become damaged, swelling and inflammation are a common by-product that can cause irreversible damage to the delicate tissue. Intervertebral discs can degenerate, bulge, become herniated, or even rupture, while ligaments and tendons can become overstretched and tear.

(5) Pathophysiology: When the spinal joints are restricted, the body begins the process of bone spur formation, and possibly even fusion. When the functions of the body's systems are compromised, the individual's health is compromised. The process is a direct result of this degeneration, scar-tissue, and long-standing irritation to the nervous system.

*There are many causes of Subluxations, but only one doctor licensed and trained to remove them... Chiropractors.
